Alternative Power
Batteries are required to store the power for use when there is no sun or wind and for peak power demands.
Modern batteries used are specially designed for constant discharging and recharging and have a life expectancy of
as much as 15 years or longer with very little maintenance. Batteries are available in 2 volt, 6 volt, and 12 volts units and are connected in 12 volt, 24 volt or 48 volt banks.
It is usual for battery sizes to start at about 500Ah (Amp-hours) and may be as large as 2000Ah.
A detailed hour by hour analysis of power usage and power generated is
essential to determine the battery size for a reliable installation. (Forms to assist with this are available from KAYROD Services Limited).
