Charge controllers are an electronic device to control the charging of batteries. They are needed for all large battery installations to optimise charging rates and protect the battery. 
They are capable of automatically doing most of the maintenance charging and conditioning charging required to ensure maximum battery life. Charge controllers are available in sizes capable of handling from 2 amps up to 60 amps. Additional units can be installed to handle larger currents.
