Inverters -
Alternative Power
Inverters are required to convert the DC power from the battery to normal AC power so that all the usual household appliances can be used.
There are inverters available that put out "sine wave" power (exactly the same as mains power) or modified "square wave"
(not recommended). Sine wave inverters are adequate for 99% of all household appliances. The inverters used for alternative power systems are designed to look after the battery and include special smart features to make the whole system as 'hands free' as possible.
Inverters are available to connect to mains power (Intertie units) and to generators.
Key benefits of inverters for alternative power
- Reliable construction
- Prevents over discharging the battery
- Provides power system status information
- Can be connected to mains power or generators
