Types of alternative power

All power needs are provided by wind, solar, or micro hydro system.

The DC power provided charges batteries for use as required. The DC power is converted to 230 volts AC by an inverter.

To the user the system is invisible and the power appears to be no different from conventional mains power. To reduce the cost, gas can be used for cooking and water heating. Solid fuel burners can be used for heating and water heating.

Mixed alternative power system

Wind and solar equipment provides power to reduce power bills or to provide power during 'black outs'. The backup system could be just a large battery and inverter, or a complete alternative power system, although somewhat smaller than would be needed to completely replace mains power.
